Business Studies teacher, Dean West, in conjunction with Aberystwyth University has organised five leadership days for our current year 12 and year 13 business studies students.
The wonderful staff from Aberystwyth University, facilitate the day and act as mentors to the students, providing them with advice and guidance on how to approach the assessment tasks.
50 students each day engaged in a range of activities which helped develop skills including team working, communication and leadership. The students got into groups and were tasked with developing a product using resources they were given and pitching their product and business plan to the Aberystwth staff in a Dragon’s Den style setting. They also participated in a university level lecture on the topic of management and leadership.
Dean West said, “The students interacted extremely well and engaged with the activities brilliantly. They received a lot of information and have gained understanding of the importance of developing skills, such as, confidence, assertiveness, communication and team working for employment. It is a great day for the student and the college and we’re really proud to be part of it.”
