Supporting your child

Successful study doesn't begin and end at the classroom door and here at King Edward's we encourage parents to take an active role in supporting their child's studies outside college.

The 'out of classroom' work our students undertake goes far beyond the simpler homework tasks they will have experienced at GCSE. In addition to developing self-directed study skills, there will be substantial reading and research to be done.

We know that our enthusiastic students are keen to share their experiences at college with their parents and we expect you'll soon get a feel for the work they're doing and what aspects of their studies are stretching them most.

In addition, you will have opportunities to come in to college for consultation evenings where you can discuss progress with subject teachers and you will be able to 'look in' on your child's progress using the college's online 'Parent Portal'.

If you have concerns, please contact us.  Your child's lead tutors welcome parental feedback.  If there are particular challenges a student is facing, we believe that by working together with parents we can provide the right support.
