About You & Future Plans Guidance
In your application, there’s a section called About You & Future Plans. This section has two parts.
In the first part, we’d like you to tell us a bit about yourself. This doesn’t need to be a formal personal statement like you’d write for university. We’re simply interested in getting to know you! Tell us why you want to study the courses you’ve chosen, any hobbies or achievements you’re proud of, and what you think makes you a great candidate for King Edward VI College.
What to include:
- Why you want to come to KE – for example, why you’re interested in the subjects you’ve chosen
- Hobbies and interests
- Positions of responsibility – any roles you’ve taken on, like school council or club leadership
- Other experiences – like travel, volunteering, or special projects
- Work experience – any jobs or internships you’ve had
Hints and tips:
- Plan it out – try a mind map or some notes first
- Write in sentences – keep it simple and clear
- Check spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Ask someone else to review it
- Don’t overthink it! – keep it straightforward and true to you
The second part of this section asks, What do you hope to do after leaving King Edward VI College, Stourbridge? If you have a career in mind for after college or university, or even if you’re not sure yet, share your thoughts with us! We ask this so we can help you with any advice or guidance on your subject choices. Don’t worry about needing to impress us! It’s completely okay to say that you’re unsure – most people at your age are.
