Former student, Phil James from our 2016 cohort shared some wonderful news with us about his recent success. Read on for a sort bio about his journey.
After King Ed’s, Phil graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is now working as a freelance Pianist, Percussionist, Guitarist, Musical Director, Arranger and Composer.
Since graduating, Phil has worked at the RSC on productions of A Museum In Baghdad (MD), King John (Assistant MD), The Rover (Assistant MD) Romeo & Juliet UK tour (MD) and Hamlet UK and international tour (MD).
He is currently working on the production of The Winter’s Tale at Stratford and composing music for Tales from Shakespeare, written by Michael Morpurgo.
Phil has also worked on a range of West End and touring musicals, including On Your Feet, Wicked, The Book of Mormon, The Commitments, Evita and Tango Moderno.
Phil says “I benefited hugely from my time at King Ed’s. The encouragement with composing and opportunities to rehearse and perform in ensembles were invaluable. The skills I learnt have been immensely important in helping me become the professional musician I am today.”
