In February, 3 staff and 25 students enjoyed a five day visit to Rome and Pompeii to enrich their understanding of Religious Studies, Classics and Art History. We had a jam-packed itinerary including an audience with Pope Francis inside the Vatican, exploring the religious, classical and artistic highlights of the Eternal City. The students were an absolute credit to the college; curious, positive and mature. Two students give their view below. Highlights of the trip can be seen at https://www.instagram.com/kedst_in_rome/
'Many thanks to the teachers for giving me the opportunity to come on the trip! For the reasonable price we did absolutely loads, not only visiting The Colosseum and The Vatican, but also the many churches and other cultural landmarks were just as fascinating. I also loved the food, particularly the Hard Rock Cafe (not Italian but minor detail), it was great to get stuck into the culture and try a variety of things. However, it was the group that made this trip; everyone who came was genuinely friendly and easy to get along with, even though we were two year groups and do a myriad of different subjects, everyone got on really well and this is one of the reasons the trip was such a success. Also getting matching hoodies gave us something in common.'

'I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Rome and I think it was a fantastic opportunity, I’m so glad I went. My highlights from the trip is pretty much everything! When we went to Pompeii, I found it fascinating learning about the history of events that happened there, although it was a painful past, to be able to visibly see what was left and the remains is an experience I shall never forget. I loved looking around the many different churches as well as the Colosseum and seeing the Pope in the Vatican was also a great experience. I enjoyed listening to his speech and despite not understanding all of it, I still felt the excitement and passion from the audience. Vatican City was beautiful and I learnt so much from our tour guide at the Vatican Museum although I have to say it was a lot of walking! There were so many lovely places we visited that were all perfect for photos and of course last but definitely not least the gelato was amazing!'
