Introduction

As one of the largest A Level Music providers in the area, King Edward’s attracts excellent musicians from across the West Midlands.

This concentration of talented performers means that we have many excellent ensembles both big and small in a variety of styles. These include two choirs, symphony orchestra, string orchestra, wind band and many other small groups. Music and non-music students are equally welcome to take part – whatever your musical taste, there will be something to get involved in.

Please note enrolment for Chamber Choir, Orchestra, Wind Band and String Orchestra is through audition only. A meeting for new students who are interested in signing up for music activities or lessons is held in early September.

Please contact Tom Pankhurst, Subject Leader for Music - tom.pankhurst@kedst.ac.uk or enrichment@kedst.ac.uk for more details.

2020-21 Music group meetings are being held everyday during induction week Tuesday 1st September - Friday 4th September 2020. These will take place at 12.15pm in Chambers, Trevor Whitehouse building. Please attend on your induction day if you wish to join a music group.

Please note - some music groups will be subject to COVID-19 restrictions.

The King Edward's Music Society, which is made up of a committee of students and staff, helps to run our music enrichment, including having oversight of a number of smaller student-led groups.

All our music enrichment, including the large ensembles, are timetabled into the college day, so our students, who come from far and wide, do not have to stay after college for rehearsals.
