All dance students have multiple opportunities to perform throughout their time at college. In preparation for the practical examination all dancers will showcase their work in a preview evening presentation. In addition, the practical work created in class, as part of a thorough investigation of the style of key practitioners, is performed in the annual dance show.
The college dance company is an exciting enrichment activity designed to stretch and challenge the most gifted and talented dancers. The company are formed at the start of the academic year through an audition process which is open to all students regardless of whether they are studying A Level Dance. The group create and rehearse work of an extremely high standard in a range of dance styles. The pieces are then showcased in public performances both within college and the local community.
In year 13 students have the opportunity to lead an enrichment group. This helps them develop organisational skills and confidence in leading a group as well as providing an opportunity to develop their choreographic and teaching skills. Previous student led dance enrichments have included beginners contemporary dance, street dance, commercial and MT Jazz dance.
The culmination of the groups weekly sessions are performed in the annual college dance show. The student led enrichments are open to all students and there is no audition required to participate.
