A team of four talented students represented the college in this year’s Senior Maths Teams Challenge, held on 13 November. The group — Oli, Sam, Jacob and Ishaan — earned their places after achieving outstanding results in the Senior Maths Challenge earlier this term.

Competing against 22 sixth forms and colleges from across the West Midlands, including several grammar and independent schools, the team faced a series of demanding mathematical rounds. These included the notorious “ping-pong” round, where each answer had to feed directly into the next problem, requiring sharp thinking and seamless teamwork.

After an intense day of problem-solving, the college team finished an impressive 4th overall, proudly achieving the highest position of any state institution in the competition — a remarkable accomplishment and testament to their hard work and skill.
