King Edward VI College in Stourbridge has celebrated the continued success of its Aspire programme, with 24 students securing offers from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. This achievement underscores the hard work and dedication of the students, marking an impressive milestone for the college. We are also extremely proud of the students who were not successful in their applications, and their academic excellence and potential have been recognised by a wide range of leading institutions, including Imperial College London, Durham, and Edinburgh.

With over 75 students successfully applying to Oxbridge in the past five years, the college has earned a remarkable accolade for its commitment to academic excellence and support for students pursuing higher education at prestigious institutions. This achievement not only highlights the capabilities of the students but also speaks to the effectiveness of the college’s educational initiatives and guidance.

Principal Holly Bembridge commented, “I am proud of the achievements of these students: it is brilliant that so many of them were successful in such a competitive process. I am even more proud of the discipline, focus and passion for their subjects that propelled them to this success. Our Aspire team were crucial too – skilfully tailoring support right through the application, test and interview stages.”

Students went through the rigorous process of applying with the bespoke support of the Aspire team, Nick Barley, Head of Aspire, said: “It’s always a pleasure supporting our applicants to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and each year we are inspired by their ability, ambition, and commitment to a challenging and highly competitive process. Each student worked with a member of the Aspire team to help with course and institution selection, the drafting of personal statements, and interview preparation, and also attended entrance test preparation sessions where applicable. We are extremely proud of each and every student who applied, and are also very grateful for the support they received from subject teachers, personal tutors, fellow students, and parents and guardians.
