The winner of our poetry competition, Laurent, has shared his wonderful poem with us, entitled: The Gentle Shift.
The Gentle Shift
Kindness entails deconstructing selfish texture.
One kid in need of a desk pleads to another,
Of course, the helping hand sprouts out to soothe disturbed souls.
Rarely will the hand not hold everyone lovingly, personally.
A splash of kindness creates ripples of change; watch as
Tender hearts from the start play their part.
Soft and kind, ideas entwined, paths align.
Closely we watch the river of time pass us by
how be it rushing waters cleanse the fire burning our bridges. Open once clenched fists to reveal budding flowers.
Let us always meet each other with a smile from now onwards
As we reflect and learn about each other, one lesson stands tall: reciprocate the charity given in order to be free from the vain finish
Elderly we stand at the end of the road
last winds of the storm of adversity have raged
discovery has led to the sprouts of the sturdy oak
events cultured our feet and the prints can be gauged
retell the conceit from so long ago
laugh at how much i have aged
young to old on that note i staccato
