What if we are aware that my child will be absent?
Before the day:
- Yourself or your child should contact attendance@kedst.ac.uk and attach a screenshot of any appointment/invites as evidence. This applies to all medical appointments, university open days or interviews.
- Your child should let their teachers and PT know that they are going to be absent and find out what work they will be missing. Your child needs to make sure that they have caught up on the missed work before the next lesson.
What if we do not know that my child is going to be absent in advance?
If your child is are unable to come to college, you or your child must let us know as early as you can on the day and preferably before 10.00 am, using one of the options above. The phone line is staffed from 8.00 am but a message can be left earlier if necessary.
What if your child is ill during the day and needs to go home before their last lesson?
If your child is taken ill during the college day and they need to leave early, your child should notify us by going to reception to sign out. If they are being collected from college, we ask that they please remain in reception until their lift arrives.
What if your child is on college arranged work or schools experience?
Your child should check their portal as the absence will probably have already been logged (with a K mark), if it hasn’t, they should email attendance@kedst.ac.uk so we can update the register for them.
What if your child is late?
As soon as your child realises that they are going to be late, then they need to email their teacher directly. This will also be sent to parents and guardians later in the day. Please note that their teacher will not update the register with a late mark until your child arrives in the classroom.
