Independent Study

Research shows that the work that goes on outside of the classroom is equally important for success at A level, and students need to be completing around five hours of homework and independent study per subject per week. Work set by teachers to be done independently is often preparation for future lessons and is referred to as prep.

There is no shortcut to a good A level and the independent work teachers set on a weekly basis will directly impact how well a student achieves. Students should spend some time thinking about when they will do their prep work in their different subjects; adding time to their timetable and sticking to it is a great way to support themselves to be successful.

Students can use the KE Student Hub SharePoint site to find information about their subjects; and support for their independent study.
