What to do if your grades were not what you expected?

We strongly encourage any student in this situation to book a one-to-one counselling appointment with a member of our post-results counselling team; to request an appointment please visit the student support centre on results day or email

1. Clearing

This should be your first priority. If you are planning to go to university, our advice in most circumstances would be that if you can find an acceptable university place this autumn through clearing, you should take it. Please read ‘clearing support‘ on the left hand menu.

2. Alternative opportunities

Colleagues from Halesowen College are in the student support centre where they can advice on apprenticeships and alternative courses.

3. Review of marking, clerical checks and access to scripts

If you feel that there may have been an error in the marking of your exam(s), information about reviews of marking, clerical checks and access to your exam paper(s), including deadlines and fees, can be found in under ‘Post results information‘ on the left hand side menu. You can also visit the registry department on 18 August.

4. Summer 2023 re-sits

The first opportunity to re-sit your exams is Summer 2023. Entries must be made between Monday 21 November and Wednesday 30 November 2022. Please email or telephone 01384 398 121 to enquire. There is no need to inform the College of your intentions before these dates, so you have plenty of time to decide. More information can be found under ‘Post results information‘ on the left hand side menu.
